Jason Duncan
Civil and Criminal Litigation Attorney
Jason Duncan was born in Vorhees, NJ
in 1976. Jason's father was an Army
veteran and veteran of the Vietnam Conflict who settled in New Jersey after returning from his overseas
service to his country. Jason's family
moved to Wilmington, Delaware
several years later and he currently lives in Dillsburg, PA.
He attended Concord
High School in Wilmington, Delaware. During high school he played baseball and
basketball, was part of the Drama team, and was selected to attend a youth
leadership course at the prestigious Valley
Forge Military Academy.
Jason also worked a part-time job at a local drug store in order to earn
money for college. Upon graduating from
high school in 1994, he was awarded a scholarship to attend Elizabethtown College.
While at Elizabethtown College,
Jason studied Political Science, History, and Philosophy, and played for the
Elizabethtown College Men's Volleyball team.
While at E-town Jason was active in many campus clubs and charities and
was named as a College Scholar and received the Distinguished Student Award. He also discovered his first real passion in
life when he met his wife Rebecca. While attending E-town Jason also began his
lifelong friendship with his law partner Duane Stone. He also worked for the U.S. Post Office during
school and volunteered his time as a cook at a local homeless shelter and
church. Jason graduated Magna Cum Laude
from E-town College in 1998 and decided to pursue
his other great passion, the law. In
1998, he was awarded a Dean's Scholarship to attend Boston University School of
Law where he began exploring his passion for the law.
During his first year of Law School
Jason received the G. Joseph Tauro Distinguished Scholar award. Jason also continued to work and volunteered
his time at a local soup kitchen and a domestic violence support center. After his first year of law school Jason
worked as a paralegal for a patent attorney in Boston.
In his second year of law school Jason was awarded the Paul J. Liacos
Distinguished Scholar award and began an internship with a firm in Boston specializing in litigation
and business law. While working for the
firm Jason continued to develop his litigation skills by drafting appellate
briefs, conducting discovery, drafting motions, and volunteering his time as an
advocate for juvenile offenders. During
Jason's third year he was awarded the Edward F. Hennessey Distinguished Scholar
award and continued his volunteer work.
In April 2001, Jason graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University
School of Law and began working for a law firm in Philadelphia while studying for the bar
exam.
After the tragedies that struck our
nation on September 11th 2001, Jason decided to follow in his father's footsteps and joined the Army. On 15 September 2001, Jason accepted an offer from the United States
Army Judge Advocate's General Corp and began the Officer Basic Course on 7 January 2002. Jason was named an Honor Graduate of the 157th Officer Basic Course and upon completion was
assigned to the storied and honored 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One). Jason quickly made a name for himself and was assigned as the federal prosecutor for one of the military's busiest jurisdictions. After serving as the prosecutor for over two years Jason volunteered to deploy to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he continued to prosecute cases as well as oversee and ensure that all military operations were conducted in accordance
with the law. Upon his return from Iraq Jason was reassigned to the Military District of Washington where he served as defense counsel and Officer-in-Charge of the Fort Meade Branch Office. As a federal public defender for the Military District of Washington Jason continued to litigate numerous complex and high profile cases and was assigned as defense counsel to one of the high profile detainee abuse cases arising out of Abu Ghraib, Iraq. For his dedication to duty and superior litigation skills as a defense counsel Jason was awarded the Meritorious
Service Medal.
After being honorably discharged from
the U.S. Army Jason moved to Dillsburg, Pennsylvania with his wife and son to be closer to his
wife's family in Carlisle and to join his long
time friend Duane in his law practice.
Since joining the firm as the litigation attorney Jason has already
handled several state and federal criminal and civil cases and was recently
admitted to practice in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
Jason focuses his practice on representing
clients in all forms of litigation and continues to represent military clients
while continuing his service in the United States Army Reserves. Jason believes that people should find the
things they are passionate about in life and go after them. He takes this approach to representing his
clients and their businesses. He joined
the firm in order to continue his passion for the law and believes that the law
should be accessible and personal.
Jason's practice focuses on Central Pennsylvania, however, because the
needs of the client take priority, when needed he travels throughout Pennsylvania and New
Jersey as well as many other states in his federal
practice in order to represent the interests of his clients.
